Da Vinci Code: Da copyright violation?
By Tom Smith

Big case in the UK over whether the runaway bestseller The Da Vinci Code stole the ideas and architecture of another book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail, in which the author also alleged that Jesus survived the crucifixion, moved to France with Mary Magdalen, and started a royal dynasty. (Are there not, after all, French cookies called Magdalenes? How do you explain that, huh?) Peter Brown, in writing HBHG, did not make nearly as much money in offering this risable pseudo-history as did Dan Brown, who is now rich enough to found his own royal dynasty. To do this, of course, he would have to survive the assassins of Opus Dei, and who knows how many battallions of ruler swinging nuns.
