Who's Out of the Mainstream?
By Gail Heriot

Approximately 500 law professors have signed a letter opposing Judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court. No surprise there. In fact, it's surprising that among the fever swamps of legal academia, only 500 opponents could be unearthed. They obviously didn't dig deeply.

But among the signatories is Professor Curtis Doebbler of An-Najah National University in Nablus, Palestine. Doebbler has a somewhat famous client. His name is Saddam Hussein. Of course, I'm happy that somebody is willing to represent Saddam Hussein, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking his lawyer's opinion on who should sit on the Supreme Court.
