Chicago Girl Makes Good

When I was a girl, I loved the fact that Golda Meir had been a Milwaukee school teacher. And I still smile every time I hear about or see a picture of Jordan's Queen Noor (nee Lisa Halaby), whom I prefer to call Queen Noor of New Jersey. I like to see American women turn up in improbable places.
Of course, the election of Viktor Yushchenko in Ukraine makes me very happy. There are many reasons for this, most of which are obvious, but one of them is his wife,
Kateryna Chumachenko Yushchenko, who is from suburban Chicago and (like yours truly) a graduate of that august institution of higher learning on the midway, U of C. Go Maroons!
