Good Brooks column
By Tom Smith

I am happy to admit the Brooks column on Kerry is good work. And this is what Brooks can and should do.

BTW Brook's Bobos in Paradise is also frequently quite funny. Not as funny as Bill Bryson say, but funny. You read Bobos, and you realize Brooks spends a lot of time, way too much time probably, thinking uncharitable thoughts about people's social ambitions. You don't need to be a deep psychologist to realize Brooks is a driven social climber, and perhaps somewhat conflicted about it. He despises all the climbers around him, and determined to beat them to the top. And he probably will. Because he seems so nice and is not. Still, everyone has to make their way in the world, and at least he's not a dangerous nutball like Paul Krugman.
