essay that describes the lay of the philosophical land these days. Well worth reading. (Brian posts this in connection with his blog fight with Jacob Levy, which I mean to encourage for the same purely selfish reason I watch boxing on cable TV -- it's fun to watch skillful people fight. But I don't mean to take sides!)
