Rome fell, then life sucked

Interesting bit on great blog from a couple of Oxford classical historians. One argues that with the fall of Rome, the quality of life declined dramatically, even though this is now (why am I not surprized) a very unfashionable view. The fashionable view is that all cultures are valid, no matter how illiterate and disease-ridden.
