On the Waterfront
By Mike Rappaport
By sheer coincidence, I was in the middle of watching On the Waterfront when I heard that Marlon Brando had died. I had not seen the movie since I was a teen.
It is really quite a powerful film, and it does not really seem dated. Brando's performance is marvelous.
The politics of the movie stand out. The labor union is the bad guy. The Catholic priest the good guy. Not likely to see that kind of movie made today. Too bad.
