Books versus Blogs
By Michael Rappaport

Stuart Buck quotes Stumbling Tongue's attack on the internet: "My rediscovery: Ephemeral reading is intellectual junk food. It feeds the habit, not the hunger. My god, genuine books are just so much better. Why are you even reading this now? Why? Why? Why? "

Plleeeaase. The internet is not junk food, it is fast food. We read the internet for the same reason that we sometimes prefer a McDonald's quarterpounder to a steak. Because it is cheaper (in terms of money and time) and because sometimes it is more enjoyable.

While a serious book may have deeper or more sustained arguments, a good blog has a more new information and new arguments per word than the best books. Both have their places.
